Organizers have just announced two additions to the previously released schedule of events for the Danny Barker Banjo and Guitar Festival 2017: a festival-opening free concert with an all-star 8 piece band led by trumpeter and vocalist Gregg Stafford – Thursday afternoon, January 12, 2017 – at 2pm – at the Old U.S. Mint – 400 Esplanade Avenue; and – a live broadcast on 90.7 WWOZ at 8pm of the Danny Barker Birthday Bash at Snug Harbor – 626 Frenchmen Street – also on Thursday, January 12, 2017.  Attached and below is an updated press release for the festival with those additions to the schedule – plus a correction of the inadvertent omission in an earlier release of trumpeter and vocalist Leroy Jones as a participant in the January 13, 2017 panel discussion about Danny Barker’s life and legacy at The Little Gem starting at 5pm.  Leroy Jones was a key player in helping Danny Barker recruit musicians for and launch the Fairview Baptist Church Christian Marching Band.
